Bikram Yoga

I have always been curious about Bikram Yoga and my sister in law finally convinced me to purchase a Groupon with her to Bikram Yoga Summerlin. We got 25 classes for $30 which is amazing. I have attended 1 yoga class and I have heard horror stories about Bikram from people passing out to vomiting. Bikram Yoga is 26 poses in 105ish degree room with humidity. I was also really worried about the smell since I have a super sensitive nose.

I walked into the studio and we were immediately welcome by the girl at the front desk (didn't catch her name). She made us feel at ease and explained everything and advised it was completely normal for us to feel faint or nauseous and its ok to sit for a bit.  The instructor was also standing at the front and welcomed us which was super awesome. We got set up in the room and I realized this was not going to be a walk in the park because I was already sweating and we hadn't even started. The workout was intense and I definitely had to sit down for a while because I didn't want to faint. I honestly didn't think I could sweat as much as I did. At the end of the class I felt like I had just got out of the pool, that how soaked I was...disgusting. There were times I was imagining water being poured on me and hoped that it would be over soon. I am really proud I made it through and I look forward to going back. The smell wasn't as bad even though the room was carpeted.

Have you ever done a crazy exercise?

  1. Good job Erica! I am way too scared to try hot yoga! Were you sliding all over the mat?

    1. You actually put a towel over the mat, it helps collect the sweat (gross), but it was needed otherwise I would have slid all over.

  2. I've actually tried this once! It was insane. I almost passed out, but after it was over, I felt really amazing. It was awesome!

    1. Yeah I had to sit down a couple times because I thought I was going to pass out, luckily I didn't. I had loads of energy afterwards and I look forward to doing it again.

      Thanks for stopping by!
