Meal Plan

Happy Monday!

This weekend was pretty lazy. I didn't do anything extravagant but cleaned the house a bit and tried to catch up on some shows. If you are not watching Pretty Little Liars, you need to be. It keeps me on the edge of my seat I know it sounds ridiculous because its a "young adult" show, but I am in love!

Here is whats cooking this week:

Mexican Haystack

Cilantro Lime Chicken Rice Bake

Italian Chicken

Summer lovin

You get spoiled living in Vegas especially during the winter time. Most people will ask me if I miss the four seasons and I always say no. I love the summer and I love the dry heat that Vegas has. Last week we we had a cold front where the highs were in the upper 30s and the lows were in the 20s. Brrrrr. Most of the nation would have enjoyed our weather, but it was too cold for me. I remember the winters in Missouri and I loved it when it would finally hit 30, I felt like I didn't need a jacket. You better believe that when the cold front came I was wearing 2 jackets, gloves, a scarf and a hat. Yeah I know I am ridiculous and I acclimate very quickly. I am ready for summer though. I love how standing in the sun feels like it warms your bones and just being able to walk outside and not feel like a marshmallow because you are wearing so many layers.

Our forecast is looking pretty awesome.

I can't wait till the 70s hit. I am already looking at summer clothes to prepare. Hurry up summer!

Bikram Yoga

I have always been curious about Bikram Yoga and my sister in law finally convinced me to purchase a Groupon with her to Bikram Yoga Summerlin. We got 25 classes for $30 which is amazing. I have attended 1 yoga class and I have heard horror stories about Bikram from people passing out to vomiting. Bikram Yoga is 26 poses in 105ish degree room with humidity. I was also really worried about the smell since I have a super sensitive nose.

I walked into the studio and we were immediately welcome by the girl at the front desk (didn't catch her name). She made us feel at ease and explained everything and advised it was completely normal for us to feel faint or nauseous and its ok to sit for a bit.  The instructor was also standing at the front and welcomed us which was super awesome. We got set up in the room and I realized this was not going to be a walk in the park because I was already sweating and we hadn't even started. The workout was intense and I definitely had to sit down for a while because I didn't want to faint. I honestly didn't think I could sweat as much as I did. At the end of the class I felt like I had just got out of the pool, that how soaked I was...disgusting. There were times I was imagining water being poured on me and hoped that it would be over soon. I am really proud I made it through and I look forward to going back. The smell wasn't as bad even though the room was carpeted.

Have you ever done a crazy exercise?

Running from an Angel

On Saturday I ran Running from an Angel with a couple of friends. I decided to run with Julie, who is new to running, to help keep her motivated and I think we both needed it realizing how cold it was. Vegas has been having frost warnings and Saturday morning was no different, it was in the low 30s with a slight wind. The course was an out and back and had a couple of tough hills but they were really fun to run back down. My roommate Alex was also running the 5k and had plans to finish in under 20mins (I know he is crazy). Unfortunately, his body didn't agree with his plans and he started getting cramps after the first mile. Julie and I caught up with him around mile 2.5 and walked the rest of the way until the finish line where we booked it. I loved running with Julie, it was nice to keep her motivated to keep going and it was humbling knowing that I had been in her shoes once.

We were also surprised with a pancake finish at the end. I love to have pancakes after racing, it makes them taste so much more delicious.

I look forward to running their sister race, Running with the Devil in June.

Have you have ran with a friend?

Music Wednesday

Need a little music to help you get through the week? Check out Imagine Dragon you might recognize them from an earlier single Its Time which is currently on every commercial it seems. Radioactive is their newest single and it is pretty good. I found out they are a local band and I am lucky enough to be going to their concert on February 9th. I love attending concerts when they are in their home town, it amps up the energy and the show is usually better.

Painting our house and Meal Plan

Ryan and I are currently trying to figure out what colors we want to paint the interior of our home. Most people would love it and I thought I would too, until it came down to picking out colors. I thought Ryan would be super horrible at picking out colors but it turns out I am the one that is awful. I love vibrant hues and lots of colors but when I look at the color tiles I am drawn to the pastel muted color which is so odd. Maybe I have a commitment issues and I am afraid of bright colors. Here are some of the homes I love.
